Contract dispute in the naval sector in APAC

Situation: Disputes
Litigation

Context

Our client, a major European group specialised in naval-based defence, had a contract with a foreign state in the Asia-Pacific region to deliver defence marine vessels. The contract was unilaterally reduced while construction of the boats was under way.

Key Takeaway

To understand the increasingly complex partnerships between defence sector players, we are able to rely on our extensive sector knowledge as well as a combination of our various areas of expertise (legal, economic and financial).

Accuracy Role

Our role was to provide detailed economic and financial analyses to facilitate negotiations between our client and the foreign state. To do so, we had to get to grips with the factual characteristics of the project, as well as identify and understand any specificities of the contract signed between the parties. We also had to understand at what point the contract had been terminated and the bargaining power of each party. As part of our work, we had to select and apply reliable and acceptable economic and financial methodologies.
