Building tomorrow: The COP of Action. Recommendations for COP 28 from the construction sector

Buildings contribute 39% of total energy-related CO2 emissions.
The challenges of decarbonising this sector should be a key topic of discussion at the upcoming COP28. The key to fight against the urgent climatecrisis is the implementation of best practices in terms of regulatory and financial aspects, while raising awareness on the issue in the building and real estate sector.

Through its report ” Building tomorrow: The COP of Action. Recommendations for COP 28 from the construction sector”, Accuracy makes 10 recommendations to help the industry achieve net zero embodied and operational carbon emissions in the construction sector by 2050, in line with the UnitedNations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

There’s no better time to address this pressing issue than during World Green Building Week. As Zulema Cerdá Sanchis, director at Accuracy and lead author of this report says, “If we hope to achieve net zero by 2050, the construction industry will have to adopt environmentally friendly practices at a very fast pace”.
