The Asociación MUM (Mujeres Unidas contra el Maltrato, or Women United Against Abuse in English) is a non-profit organisation supporting women survivors of gender-based violence. It provides psychological aid to guide them through their trauma, as well as employment and legal assistance to help them recover and achieve autonomy.
Accuracy has worked closely with MUM for many years. In addition to a financial donation that directly supports the needs of the Ecoaldea (Eco-village) – a rural shelter for women victims of abuse and their children – contributing to its maintenance and development, Accuracy has helped raise awareness and visibility around gender-based violence by organising a sensitisation talk for its employees to promote a corporate culture committed to equality and respect. Further, through a pro bono project, Accuracy provided its financial consulting expertise to assist in the creation of a cooperative that will ensure the self-sustainability and efficient management of the Ecoaldea, supporting the social and economic goals of the initiative.
To understand the value of this support, we spoke with Carmen Benito, the president of MUM, and Carmen Sáez, MUM’s employment integration coordinator.
For your organisation and the women you help, what is the real value of support like Accuracy’s, which combines a financial donation, visibility and pro bono assistance?

“There are various aspects to consider. We could mention:
- Sustainability and growth: The donation, for example, grants us a degree of stability so that we can continue developing programmes that create real opportunities for survivors.
- Greater reach and visibility: Accuracy’s public support amplifies our voice, meaning that more people learn about our mission and the importance of fighting gender-based violence.
- Strategic support: The pro bono assistance gives us knowledge, experience and tools that strengthen our management and multiply the impact of our projects.
In short, for the women we support, this combination translates into more resources, more opportunities and more confidence. It means that in addition to our help at the association, they have a broader network of people and companies committed to their future.”
What concrete impact has Accuracy’s donation had on the Ecoaldea project?
“It has had a direct impact, not only by covering essential materials and supplies for training activities and workshops for the Ecoaldea residents – this year, eight women have benefitted from these programmes – but also by improving the infrastructure of the shared space, creating a safer and more welcoming environment. Specifically, we were able to buy new furniture and kitchenware for the kitchen, and restore the flooring. We were also able to improve the outdoor area by paving the entrance.”
How important is the pro bono support to establish the cooperative?
“The pro bono support has been critical for MUM. It has enabled us to stabilise the project financially, ensuring the cooperative is founded on a solid and sustainable basis. It has also meant that we have access to specialised knowledge that would otherwise be very costly, something that has been essential in ensuring the economic viability of the initiative. Finally, it has allowed us to empower the women participating in the initiative – they know they have high-level professional backing to build their own productive project.
More than just strengthening the management of the association, this support ultimately increases the cooperative’s chances of success, generating a lasting and sustainable impact on the women’s economic autonomy.”
What other intangible benefits do you see in this partnership with Accuracy?
“This partnership gives us resources, yes, but it also provides energy, confidence and new opportunities to continue growing.”
We also spoke with Inés Bravo and Chloé Verchere, members of the Accuracy team (led by a director) working on the pro bono project, to learn more about the support provided.

What does the pro bono project to establish the cooperative involve?
“For the pro bono project, we provide support for the association’s reflections on the business model. We also help by preparing a financial model of the project, creating a business plan, conducting analyses and making recommendations on its viability and optimisation.”
How will this financial and strategic guidance contribute to the economic sustainability and efficient management of the Ecoaldea?
“By helping the association make decisions based on financial analysis during the design and management of the cooperative, we are contributing to its success and sustainability. This opens the way for Ecoaldea participants to engage in activities where they develop job skills, aiding their subsequent integration into the workforce.”
What does this type of collaboration mean to you personally in a professional context?
“It’s an intellectually stimulating project, one that requires us to think through all the aspects that may affect the success of a business initiative. But above all, it’s an opportunity to contribute to an initiative that has an undeniably positive impact on the lives of people going through a particularly difficult time.”
Through this multifaceted collaboration, Accuracy demonstrates its strong commitment to being socially responsible, supporting MUM not only with financial resources but also with awareness efforts and professional assistance that enhance and strengthen the social impact of the association’s work in Spain.
