Business case

New business models in the aerospace industry

Situation: Strategy and business changes
Strategy

Context

Our client, an OEM in the aerospace industry, was seeking to diversify and grow its revenue streams by leveraging its human and physical assets beyond its core activities.

Key Takeaway

We provided a clear view of viable business models for diversification, particularly in the aerospace aftermarket (MRO – maintenance, repair and operations). Our strategic and financial analysis led to the rejection of a specific opportunity initially identified by the client in favour of more promising alternatives.

Accuracy Role

We were engaged to conduct an in-depth market study, drawing on expert interviews and external benchmarks to identify relevant diversification strategies. We developed three business models with corresponding financial analyses and scenario tools, and we conducted a focused study of the aerospace spare parts market. This included assessing trends, risks and a specific opportunity proposed by the client, which was ultimately ruled out based on our findings.
