Accuracy UK co-hosted an insightful panel with Ashurst during London International Disputes Week (LIDW), exploring the fast-evolving landscape of renewable energy disputes.
The panel covered the topic of “Renewable energy projects: sources of disputes, the role of arbitration, and how to build a winning case” and brought together leading voices from the legal and renewable energy sectors to explore the rising complexity of disputes in energy transition. We were proud to have Vasudev Bhagavatula, director at Accuracy, contribute his insights on the financial and technical dimensions shaping these high-stakes cases.
Here are some of the key takeaways from the discussion:
1. Disputes in the renewables sector often stem from evolving technology, design and performance issues, supply chain disruptions and construction delays including weather-related issues, ambiguous contracts, regulatory challenges and grid connection constraints.
2. A robust mix of records – including contracts, contemporaneous progress data (such as schedules and event logs) and detailed financial and accounting information – is critical for assessing delay, disruption and quantum claims.
3. The more detailed and real-time the records, the more robust and reliable the delay and quantum analysis becomes.
A huge thank you to the Ashurst team for helping make the panel a great success. It was a terrific session.
