“By 2050, the world’s population will have reached 10 billion people, and we will need to expand urban areas massively to accommodate such growth. This is a daunting task, especially considering the construction sector alone currently contributes 39% of global energy-related carbon emissions,” says our director Zulema Cerdá Sanchis.
As one of the masters of ceremonies and moderators for the 2023 Sustainable Transformation MENA summit that took place in Dubai, Zulema discussed current issues to achieve net zero by 2050 with key stakeholders from governments, policymakers and project owners. They addressed strategies and solutions that can assist in decarbonising the construction industry and creating healthy, resilient, financially viable buildings and cities for generations to come with the aim of shaping a sustainable future for the UAE and the world.
