Mais quel sera le nucl\u00e9aire de demain ? A c\u00f4t\u00e9 du nucl\u00e9aire conventionnel qui reste l'apanage d'acteurs \u00e9tatiques ou para\u00e9tatiques, de nombreuses start-up sous financements priv\u00e9s se sont lanc\u00e9es ces derni\u00e8res <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ann\u00e9es dans cette industrie, \u00e0 l'instar de NAAREA (acronyme de \"Nano Abundant Affordable Resourceful Energy for All\").<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>A travers son projet de XS(A)MR <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(\"extra-small advanced modular reactor\" en anglais), NAAREA a pour ambition de <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">concevoir et d\u00e9velopper des <\/span><b>r\u00e9acteurs de 4<\/b><b>\u00e8me <\/b><b>g\u00e9n\u00e9ration \u00e0 sels fondus et de faible puissance (&lt; 50 MW). <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Les avantages de cette technologie - initialement mise au point dans les ann\u00e9es 1950-1960 - sont multiples selon ses deux <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">fondateurs (Jean-Luc Alexandre et Ivan Gavriloff). Tout d'abord, un tel r\u00e9acteur, dont le fonctionnement consiste \u00e0 <\/span><b>dissoudre le combustible nucl\u00e9aire <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">dans du sel fondu \u00e0 haute temp\u00e9rature (700\u00b0C), est plus s\u00fbr gr\u00e2ce aux syst\u00e8mes de r\u00e9gulation de la fission, autoris\u00e9s par la moindre taille du r\u00e9acteur. En outre, aucun pr\u00e9l\u00e8vement n'est effectu\u00e9 sur les ressources naturelles car le r\u00e9acteur utilise les combustibles issus des r\u00e9serves existantes de d\u00e9chets nucl\u00e9aires et de thorium (concept de Waste-to-Energy), limitant d'autant les liens de d\u00e9pendances avec des fournisseurs d'uranium. A cela s'ajoute que <\/span><b>les d\u00e9chets issus du processus seront tr\u00e8s restreints<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, r\u00e9duisant par l\u00e0 m\u00eame le risque de dispersion et les probl\u00e9matiques li\u00e9es au stockage. Mais <\/span><b>l'atout principal de cette innovation, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">et aussi ce qui la diff\u00e9rencie d'autres projets d'envergure aux Etats-Unis ou en Chine, r\u00e9side dans <\/span><b>sa tr\u00e8s petite taille<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Avec un volume ultra compact, s'approchant d'un container, le r\u00e9acteur peut \u00eatre d\u00e9ploy\u00e9 de mani\u00e8re ind\u00e9pendante et d\u00e9centralis\u00e9e, permettant d'\u00eatre au plus proche des consommateurs industriels, sans n\u00e9cessiter de renforcement des r\u00e9seaux de distribution actuels ni d'acc\u00e8s \u00e0 l'eau. In fine, un tel r\u00e9acteur devrait assurer un prix de l'\u00e9nergie en sortie de r\u00e9acteur plus abordable que celle issue des \u00e9nergies fossiles et renouvelables pour <\/span><b>une autonomie pouvant aller jusqu'\u00e0 10 ans.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>L'objectif de NAAREA est de produire et d'exploiter<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, elle- m\u00eame, ses micro-centrales en grande s\u00e9rie et de vendre l'\u00e9nergie produite aux industriels. Ce positionnement en tant que <\/span><b>fournisseur de services <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">est de ce fait nettement plus engageant et donc rassurant pour les autorit\u00e9s de s\u00fbret\u00e9 nucl\u00e9aire car il \u00e9vite la multiplication des exploitants nucl\u00e9aires. <\/span><b>L\u00e0 encore, il diff\u00e8re des nombreux autres projets concurrents qui s'en tiennent \u00e0 fournir la solution.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">En contrepartie, ce projet n\u00e9cessite de lourds investissements.  Aujourd'hui, <\/span><b>la start-up a d\u00e9j\u00e0 lev\u00e9 plusieurs dizaines de millions d'euros <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">aupr\u00e8s de family offices et a construit des partenariats avec des acteurs majeurs de l'industrie : le CEA, le CNRS, Framatome, Orano, Dassault Syst\u00e8mes, Assystem.  C'est d'ailleurs avec ce dernier qu'elle est en train de r\u00e9aliser\u00a0 <\/span><b>le jumeau num\u00e9rique de son r\u00e9acteur<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, pr\u00e9vu pour l'\u00e9t\u00e9 2023.
