Pour notre plus grand bien, insiste le philosophe Fran\u00e7ois Jullien qui voit dans la pens\u00e9e chinoise <strong>un pr\u00e9cieux d\u00e9centrement pour se d\u00e9partir des certitudes de la culture occidentale<\/strong> - notamment binarisme, frontalit\u00e9 et constants passages en force au nom de la logique<sup>1<\/sup>. Cela ne signifie en rien qu'il faille donner raison \u00e0 cette perspective autre, mais l'exp\u00e9rience de la diff\u00e9rence absolue \u00e0 laquelle elle nous convie nous permet souvent d'ouvrir de nouvelles voies pour nous-m\u00eames.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Parmi les \u00e9l\u00e9ments les plus fascinants, il y a <strong>cette fa\u00e7on dont la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 chinoise semble toujours r\u00e9agir \" comme un seul homme \" :<\/strong> l'expression du collectif y est unanime. Certes, la nature du r\u00e9gime politique et son durcissement actuel vis\u00e0- vis de l'expression de toute singularit\u00e9 amenant \u00e0 sortir du lot, y sont pour beaucoup. Mais il reste que <strong>la Chine nous oppose depuis toujours le contrepoint absolu \u00e0 l'individualisme mais aussi au communautarisme<\/strong> qui, en Occident, ont conduit \u00e0 faire dispara\u00eetre le sens de l'int\u00e9r\u00eat g\u00e9n\u00e9ral.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pour se repr\u00e9senter ce mouvement collectif en bloc, on pense bien s\u00fbr au <strong>L\u00e9viathan de Hobbes<\/strong>, dont l'image c\u00e9l\u00e8bre du frontispice de l'ouvrage repr\u00e9sente le corps du roi compos\u00e9 de la foule des individus du royaume ... lesquels, si on y regarde de plus pr\u00e8s, n'ont pas de visages, tourn\u00e9s tout entiers qu'ils sont vers la face du souverain. D\u00e9tail qui rappelle le danger des m\u00e9taphores organiques quand on les utilise pour parler des soci\u00e9t\u00e9s : elles ont beau pr\u00e9tendre signifier que, si les parties sont l\u00e0 pour le tout, le tout est l\u00e0 aussi pour les parties, il reste que bien souvent les parties n'ont qu'\u00e0 s'\u00e9craser devant le tout...<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ruche, fourmili\u00e8re ou encore \" murmuration <\/strong>\" (ce ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne naturel des nu\u00e9es d'oiseaux ou des bancs de poissons qui se d\u00e9placent de concert, chaque animal semblant suivre une chor\u00e9graphie trac\u00e9e d'avance sans pourtant qu'aucun individu leader ne la dirige) nous donnent aussi de prime abord des images assez ajust\u00e9es des mouvements collectifs dont sont capables les Chinois. Mais il faut bien vite se d\u00e9partir de ces analogies animales : l'ethnologue Claude L\u00e9vi-Strauss rappelait \u00e0 juste titre qu'elles sont le d\u00e9but de la barbarie puisqu'<strong>elles reviennent \u00e0 d\u00e9nier la qualit\u00e9 humaine \u00e0 l'autre culture<\/strong><sup>2<\/sup><strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Si aucune de ces m\u00e9taphores ne dessine un mod\u00e8le souhaitable, il reste que cette fa\u00e7on de fonctionner \" comme un seul homme \" nous tend en n\u00e9gatif un miroir : <strong>comment sortir de l'impasse de la \" soci\u00e9t\u00e9 des individus \"<\/strong> (Norbert Elias) qui caract\u00e9rise un mod\u00e8le de soci\u00e9t\u00e9 occidentale d'o\u00f9 tout int\u00e9r\u00eat sup\u00e9rieur semble avoir disparu ? <strong>Comment retrouver quelque chose comme un \u00e9lan collectif ? <\/strong>Et s'il s'agissait d'abord que nos \u00e9lans individuels nous le fassent d\u00e9sirer<sup>3<\/sup> ?
