Context

In the context of a capital restructuring following a major acquisition, our client, a large diversified banking group, solicited our support to assist them in their strategic planning.

The banking sector faces multiple challenges: high regulatory pressure, rapid rise in interest rates since mid-2022, strong competition both from new digitalized actors and from well established institutions, and rapid changes in customer needs. Our client capitalized on solid assets (large retail customer base, strong presence in the insurance sector and powerful brand image) to face those challenges and keep growing its core business lines. While many banking groups recenter their activities by cutting geographic and business lines considered non-essential, finding the right diversification strategy was also a key matter for our client.
